DSLinux rallys the troops.A rallying cry on to finally, stop messing around, and put Linux on the DS. Passme's can be got for $20 now - wh's stopping us? Really?

If you have good input or experience in these matters, you'd be doing us all a favor by stopping by and offering advice. PSP is whipping our DS ass right now on cool mods. Let's show the big boys what you can do for $150 bucks.

Thank you for that! (No, I'm serious.) A lot of people have been harping on the negative aspects of "taking sides" and I think you've hit upon a positive one--that competitive zeal can be one of the best motives for getting things done and having fun doing it. Come on! Let's do our DS machines proud! Let's bring a tear to Satoru Iwata's eye! Let's show that we have the heart of a gamer and the muscle of the Regginator, along with the charm and candor of Mario and the accuracy and fortitude of Link (with maybe the subtle mysteries of Samus and Kirby thrown in for good measure)! All hail Nintendo! Onward, to the black gates of Sony headquarters, where we shall show them with one mighty modding onslaught that TOUCHING IS GOOD!

Also, it's good to keep our rabid fandom in perspective. The PSP isn't a bad system, it's just the root of all evil and Ken Kutaragi has a direct line to Satan in his office, and if you douse a PSP in holy water, it fizzles and evaporates and leaves only a solid black mark on the ground after wheezing out its last flying UMD.

Dude, it's not like the PSP is the lord of all Sith! There's some great potential for some NES emu and beyond on that machine.

Sometimes I don't know if modding/hacks of the DS can pick up all of the balls that Nintedo has been dropping over and over and over again (and again).

Seriously, if Mario Kart DS is not online - and I mean in the infrastructire/internet definition of online rather than only Adhoc - then I'm jumping ship entirely.

Stop deleting my comments and answer my question! How is the PSP's web browser better than running our own code on the DS? How is the PSP's web browser better than having a DS emulator that runs on windows and linux? How is the PSP's web browser hack better than having a complete development environment for the DS?

Think about it, like i said. Wake up to the real world. Though, I must say that round citrus sours PSP games tin is FREAKING AMAZING!!! Much better than my tuna fish can.

Don't worry, Mr. Silent K, I'm fully aware that my hatred of the PSP is 100% irrational. It's all a matter of taste, and I want everybody to play the console they like the most, even if the PSP once shot a man in Memphis just to watch him die.

(Kidding... really)

And, Mr. Anonymous, in this regard I respectfully disagree... we're farther along in hacking/misuse with the DS, but the PSP has one big hidden feature so far that we've been unable to get on the DS (but... we'll get there soon!), so it is, once again, a matter of taste.

(Can you imagine if we ever squeezed Firefox on the thing? That's a long time off, but oohhhhh...)

(And just think, when Animal Crossing comes out, we'll have a valuable window into the DS's wifi capabilities that we certainly can and will use for all manner of misuse. If we can get some form of Linux on the thing by then, we're right set!)

(But anybody caught hacking the Animal Crossing world itself will be smitten with approximately 1,442 flying UMDs. Count on it.)

Seriously, though, I like framing this as a race between the PSP and DS factions of us Linux junkies, even though it isn't, because it makes the whole thing more exciting. However, at the end of the day, we breathe the same air, we look up to the same sky, and we compute on the same kernel. Amen!

you guys talk like its not possible to mod the psp. remember that it has a usb, memory stick, and some muscle. both have a great oppertunity for mods. oh i also typed this on my psp = P

I still think writing and running your own DS code on hardware is better than using a web browser on the PSP... I prefer Firefox over PSPNavigator.

And who says the PSP wont have its own web browser? = ] Im sure that firefox is going to be much easier to port to PSP (as well as other apps) than it is going to be on the ds.
